It sounds such a cliche but here I go.. in this time of such speed and consistent instant dopamine rushes, we can all put pressure on our business to grow in the same way!
But it's true! I go through it myself. It creates such a massive amount of internal tension, pushing for success and for things to happen. We think that giving someone our card equals them booking in next week, or putting a post on social media should translate instantly into sales, or that we've been in business this many months so I should be at this point! Especially when it seems that everyone else is soo successful! The fact is that building a successful business takes hard work, time and a whole lot of learning new things. Remember that people will usually decide to book in a few times before they actually go ahead and do it! Particularly when you're asking them to face their vulnerability and the things that are going wrong in their bodies, minds and hearts. It may take time and a few times of connecting before someone takes that leap into booking. So it's ok for your business to take time to build! How much effort and time you want to put into it at any particular time will usually correlate with how fast things take off. When I was younger I had no kids and just a couple of part time jobs as my business grew, so I could put in loads of time to connect & get myself out there. I'm an aries, keen as and willing to chuck myself into the deep end to learn about the techniques that work for others. As I build my business a second time in a new area, I now have 2 kids, a home of my own and more appreciation for the slower moments of life so I have less time and energy to put into my business. I understand that this will generally mean that my business will grow a little slower! The sales funnels, the courses that require a huge commitment, the constant posting of blogs & social media doesn't suit me anymore. If that all feels genuine to you and you have the time and energy for it then that's amazing and we are all cheering you on! But for the people that don't have the time, the energy or the fear keeps holding you back a little then just want you to know that just because it's taking time, doesn't mean that you won't build a successful business! Put your limited time and effort into things that feel genuine and exciting for you. Trust the process. Slow, more often than not, means sustainable. Even after intense periods of growth, there will usually be a plateau for you to gather yourself again. Let it take time, don't feel fearful of a slow week. Use those moments to check in and see if there is anything calling your attention, ask yourself is there something I want to learn/do right now? Staying in flow means staying connected to your joy. So build success with joy, in your own time Warmth and joy, Emma ps - I would love to hear about your journey of growth in the comments below!

It wasn't an accident was it?
It's been calling you for a long time, It just "felt right".... "like you needed to do this".. And then you did. You studied, you gained all of your knowledge. And if you're like most practitioners I know, you now get these bouts of self doubt.. "Who Am I To Advise People?!" Every one of us goes through these times. I still get bouts after many years of a full time practice! Each one of us has been called to bring our gifts forward. It hasn't been easy - we've had to delve deep into the shadows and into the books over and over again. And you're still here.. Why? Because you have a gift. I'm not saying this in a way to hold you on a pedestal. It is a mere fact. You are here to serve our community with your gift. When you look at your gift with the perspective of I have and you don't, it will create a separation. And any separation between me and the world will trigger that old fight/flight! It will cause you to zig zag all over the place, get really tired or anxious. The fact is, every one has a gift. This one happens to be yours. Is it time to honour it? Show up for it each day? Practice it, hone it? Don't run away from it? It's as simple as cooking for the people with the gift of cooking. As painting for the people with the gift of painting. As gardening for the people with the gift of gardening. The list goes on. Your gift is no different. Of no better or less service to the world. Take that gift, accept it and bring it out into the world. It's so ok for that gift to not be perfect, for you to not be perfect, but each day, turn up and respect that gift that you were just born with. |
